Job Description

Cintas is seeking a Litigation Paralegal I. Under the broad supervision of an attorney, the Litigation Paralegal I will provide administrative support and paralegal services to internal and external counsel with an emphasis on matters related to tort litigation defense. Specifically, the Litigation Paralegal I is responsible for: performing administrative functions; providing docketing support and managing litigation calendars; drafting cover letters; using technology to organize, index, and oversee maintenance of case file documents; ordering transcripts from reporting services and fulfilling requests from outside counsel and others; transcribing dictated documents and letters; administering intake process for litigated claims received at the corporate level; administratively setting up paper and electronic files and routing claims to appropriate internal and external counsel for handling; under counsel's supervision, administering the legal hold process for tort claims; distributing litigation hold notices and follow-up communications; collecting documents and data responsive to notices; distributing collected materials to counsel handling the claims, and maintaining database that tracks custodians; handling general inquiries relating to matter status and/or acting as a liaison within the organization to facilitate efficient workflow in legal matters or projects and preparing reports; assisting with the subpoena and discovery process for several attorneys, including gathering factual information relative to litigation issues and preparing summaries of factual findings, investigations, deposition/hearing/trial testimony; drafting discovery demands and responses; following up with adversaries for compliance; organizing documents and coordinating document productions; conducting Bates-stamping, redaction, duplication, and indexing of documents; reviewing documents for production for attorney-client privilege; under the guidance of an attorney, categorizing documents by subject matter, preparing a chronology of facts, and creating production charts; assisting in preparation of court and other administrative agency filings, tracking status, and following through on assigned matters or projects; creating, binding, and distributing file and courtesy copies; organizing briefs, exhibits and appendices; effectively communicating and interacting with adversaries, clients, and third-party administrator to exchange information and documentation relative to the litigation process; preparing witness and matter materials; organizing interview memos and other relevant documents for attorney review, deposition preparation, and case preparation.

Skills/Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 4 years' paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate environment
  • Minimum 2 years' tort experience
  • High level of proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, Litigation Support Applications, Electronic Docketing Applications, PACER, Electronic Filing, legal research databases and other internet research tools
  • Understanding of the discovery process including ESI collection, processing and management
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Self-disciplined and highly organized
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information in a clear, concise and effective manner
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred
